Even though Fletto's maps don't look so good, most of those maps play well. I agree about the map sisez. Voltlock's 100 percent flat map with ashwall textures (the first AOW01 hurp durp) was big too, and everyone seemed to follow this style in a more detailed way. Due to this it's either choose a 100 percent accuracy weapon (there are p. much of those) or wtf. The wide open maps can be improved with adding more cover to them in places like mid-field. I completely agree with removing the rank sysem, but some mech weapons are adjusted to instakill the one without an armor. My point is, it's not as easy as 'remove the rank system and world is a better place!'. It has to be followed by a lot of changes that are not easy to commit in terms of balance. About the ripped sprites, it's not really a big deal. You don't need a fucking artist for every mod that is being made. Not all people are good at drawing. In the end there are some attempts but in the end the graphic is ugly. So I'd rather rip some good looking sprites than make my own that look ugly as fuck.

The problem with adding more stuff to the map is that it causes a lot of lag, as mentioned in the review. Size is the biggest flaw in the maps to date. So to say they can be fixed by adding more stuff to the mid is a flawed notion.

It is easy to remove the rank system and say the world is a better place. Sure it would take some time to do necessary adjustments, but in reality it would not be THAT hard. It would also make the game more friendly to people who join midgame, because everyone would be on far more equal terms.

Nightfall decided that lowering a bit the armor and damage and health given every release is the best way, and then he could see the way gameplay changes, just in case. Now he just has to.... start doing that.

Already started. It's gonna start taking place from next release onwards.
