No, this is not a BAWWW thread.

The orca is a very powerful mech. Some may say it is too powerful. It is the fastest, cheapest, and smallest of all the mechs. It only costs 900, yet it is the underlying cause for at least 75% of game victories. What really makes this mech overpowered is that it can fly. It can be pretty hard to outrun it, especially if you're one of the more slow classes. A while ago, I suggested aerodynamics, as a research for the orca, along with the jump jet. That idea was turned down, but I got some support for it because it would be nerfing the orca. I know many people who would agree with me that the orca needs to be nerfed, or at least raised in value. I suggested mech purchase delay, and that was turned down. But, like aerodynamics, I got support for it on the orca. Knowing this, I am here to suggest a change to the orca, one that will make it more balanced. Maybe a raise in the price, lowering of the health, decreasign its damage, something...

I think it's fine as it is. Just use strategy. If you're a heavy infantry unit, don't go out there trying to kill it yourself, even if you have a Mass Driver. You should always have a buddy with you. You know that the Orca is large and can fly, so obviously stick to right spots, not in the open. I would say the best weapon against it is the Minigun, and Mass Driver, if you know how to use it. You have to always keep your distance, so that their machine guns don't deal much damage and you'll be able to dodge their rockets with ease. You just need to think about the situation. I hope this helps anyone who read it.

I think it's ramming damage should be reduced, or it uses flight fuel or something though I don't see how that can be implemented. I think price increase is good. $1000 or $1100.

Orcas aren't that big of a threat, really. I've managed to take down Orcas with machineguns, laser rifles, and plasma rifles (which i hope won't get nerfed). :P

Although I DO agree that their ramming damage should be decreased.

I remember people complaining about the old "Hop in an orca to go faster" bug. If it were to go slower, it could hit two birds with one stone. But I doubt making it slower would be supported. So I suggest 3 things.

1, since it is a flying vehicle, make the machine gun less accurate.

2, lower its resistance against things like bullets and explosives

3, my personal favorite, self damage when ramming. Because there is no logic behind a plane that just nose dives into things without sustaining damage. Or at least reduce its ramming damage to others.

you don't understand the go faster bit. Ejecting from ANY mech will increase your overall ground speed.

Wrong. Ejecting from any mech, regardless of speed beforehand will increase the speed to what it was in the spawn room. (ie, fast)

I know. I was just saying that, because the orca is the fastest, it is the best candidate. I KNOW THAT WHEN YOU EJECT FROM A MECH, YOU GET THE MECHS SPEED. This topic is getting derailed.

Increasing the orca's price would be just strange. Why have something that has 1000 HP cost 100$ less than something that has 3000? Honestly, I find the price difference between the Raven and the Wolverine pretty absurd as it is.

I was thinking about making a suggestion to make Ravens more useful, but idk. I would like the AC2 to fire faster and it to have LRM-10s. Currently, it's quite weak to both infantry and other mechs.

Orca's speed is good as it is right now. The ramming damage is powerful, yes, but it may at times be the best option against plasma cannon medics and the like. And they are rather weak, meaning the gattling gun's altfire can take an Orca down if you can keep your fire for a little while, though in that while the Orca may well come and ram you down.

So, other than a possible small health decrease (900?), I'm thinking the Orca is fine as it is right now.

And yes.. Ravens should get a buff IMHO. They're near useless right now.

Well, practice makes almost perfect. (Nothing can be perfect)
Just get them chasing you in 1 straight direction, that is where they are easiest to kill. Also, have a fast class.
