AOW2 Patch - r1694

Changelog:

- Portals are now enabled on AOW10: Space Camp.
- Fixed one more case with the stealth bug. It's now gone.
- Removed stealth debug messages
- Added a check actor that ensures the portal is unified and whole. No more exploits with placing these beside walls and teleporting into void via them.
- Removed smoke puffs from mech flamers and flame decays. fps++
- Fixed a bug where an Orca would remain smoking (which begins when the Orca's health lowers to 300HP) even after being healed over 300HP.

1/2 or 1/4 spawn rate of nuke/ion smoke and fire could do.

Make such things please optional.

I have a fast pc and so I didnt had problem with the smoke puffs too and I really would like have it as an option then.


This all really should be optional and not be forced.

It'll barely affect how nice the Ion or Nuke looks, anyways. If it's 1/4, maybe. 1/2, not really. I agree that the number of smoke actos is excessive under any standards, except maybe yours.

So basically you're saying you'd like to give yourself a handicap? p. sure skulltag has built-in handicaps, and even then there is way too much smoke. 1/2 to 1/3 the currently spawned smoke would be nice.

I believe I could make it optional without having too much work, but it'll be too complex to have a clientside CVar just for a simple thing as reducing superweapon smoke. :P I suppose it'd be simpler if I just reduced the amount of actors.

I'm adding on to this saying that I do have a powerful Graphics card and its renders fine enough to still smoothly play with 2-3 nukes at once.
But I am thinking of many other players. About 50% of the time a Nuke/Ion goes off weather its from a beacon or Juggernaut, People say "Lag".
I know what it was like using my older laptop. It could not run smoothly after 1 nuke (which seems less intensive than the ion), and on software it was 4x worse.
So, yea. Think about others first. And if you are complaining about losing the effects of the Nuke/Ion, look at everything else. These effects never fit in with the rest, but its all we have at the time.

Yes its really somewhat pity to me, because the effects especially of Nuke and Ion bomb are so damn great..
Even more great, when several ion bombs and nukes explode together.

Yea their great, but fuck, just make it a change, and no optional, not literally everyone loves the effects hitting on their FPS.(let alone in Opengl, oh fuck.) =|

It doesnt impact performance very much on a Geforce 8800 GTX.

Damn what shitty computers do you have?

Also why you dont want it optional as a non-dev who has no additional work behind it or any disadvantages?

Any software user suffers severe FPS drop when a nuke lands near them. The computer has nothing to do with it, it's just that software is raped by alpha translucency.

Let's see, a damn laptop(couldn't get a desktop since I visit friends often) without dual cores. If said Laptop of mine had a dual core, I'd probably wouldn't have problems. and even though I have a Intel GMA 4500 card, and had dual cores, I'd play in Opengl anytime. but till I get a gaming laptop, no. I'll never play in opengl /endrant *sighs*

Back on fucking topic, making it optional seems to be more work being put on Nightfall's shoulders. I'd say IMHO, make it short and sweet, not all complex and long. :?
