Since it happens so many times that shock rifles be picked by non-laser classes such as medic, making it overpowered it should be restricted and non-droppable as SSG. On Island map today Synert today picked shock rifle as medic and got speed crate and in result its OP combination. Please make Shock Rifle restricted to it's class.

I disagree with this. Synert's situation of both grabbing a rifle successfully and getting a speed crate specifically as a medic isn't going to happen too often. Insted of stripping all the weaker classes from obtaining anything stronger with downgraded drops, I feel that this one shoudl remain.

The problem I perceive with powerful weapon drops is that you can suicide with them and stack it with the stealth trooper. Maybe this is a problem with the stealth trooper, though?

I always have massdriver with myself for combat but problem is when inexpensive classes take it, they are usually fast and can escape battle easily and kill several people at once before it. It isn't related just to stealth trooper. It's only weapon you don't think about aim at all and it's hardcore-blinding-powerful.

I noticed myself how much in SD this shock rifle is used, the team who get those shock rifles and maintain to survive with those shock rifles with faster classes has advantage. I was playing on Canyon map as Medic with Shock Rifle, its so damn easy to frag someone. When I need to escape I just catapult myself with massdriver over everything.

maybe if you didn't use explosive classes all the time I wouldn't frag you with it :v

IMHO It'd be better if it performed optimally with only it's own class, and a bit worse with others.

blahblah It needs a better nerf and should get another interesting nerf to other classes than the shock trooper.

Make it drop a weak one that does lower damage, or fires slower.

And the tib rifle. Which I don't see the point of since it's so damn weak now. I'm in favor of one that shoots slightly slower.

Actually, the tibrifle seems pretty powerful. (Does about >30< damage per shot to a gunman, wall-in-face-shot.)

And the projectile does 9 damage by itself, so it ought to pack quite a punch.

Kinda only in close range though, where the projectiles can reliably hit. The darts, while they have no spread, fly fairly slow: this makes it far less reliable than a shitscan for dealing high damage.

Think about it. Machinegunner vs. Tib rifleman. Tib guy would need an assload of aiming skill to beat the machinegunner before he gets shot to death.

Not that I really have a solution for this, but it's something to think about.


EDIT: Oh yeah on topic. Shock Rifle, if the shotgun-style damage ramping is put in, then it could simply have lower range for the "strong" hitscans. So it'd have the same range, but have a lower effective range.

Or you know, like. We could make it $700 or so, since it's pretty good for its price considering its the same as gauss guys and jumpjets, while snipers and plasma riflemen are $750/$800 :|

That'd make it a bit rarer to see on the battlefield in the first place at that point.
