Post The infamous server crasher
Final revision r1601 has been known to crash often on Killer Instinct (where r1491 is used instead these days because of the crashes). I have currently no idea what's causing these crashes, although it seems to be related to player deaths.

I yesterday made a debug patch that basically logs the death script sequence into the server console. What I'd most appreciate would be that if somebody who can host AOW (although looks like there isn't many of them willing to do so anymore) would host it with the patch and give me the couple last death sequences from the server log when the crash happens. That way I could try pin-point where the problem is.

Even more precious information would be reproduction. I have been recently hosting servers with the intent of tracking down this bug, but during those games the bug has not been able to be reproduced reliably or at all. (yesterday my primal server was up for 1:30 or so with around 6-8 players with not a single crash)

I need help with this, I am completely lost here with this bug.
The debug patch can be downloaded here.

I've started a seperate server with the 1601 version and with your debug pk3.

The main aow server has logging enabled (the new testserver of course too), it crashed 4 times.

Here all the logs:

Unfortunately those logs can't help me - I'm gonna need a log of the test server (one running the AOW and the debug patch) crashing.

I'll collect further logs now in this post:

http://killerinstinct.ath.cx:2000/7030_ ... _33_30.log
http://killerinstinct.ath.cx:2000/7030_ ... _04_00.log

The 2nd one is still with debugpatch 2, next logs will be with your debug 3 then.

Thanks for those logs; here's a new debug patch: http://wadhost.fathax.com/files/aow2_debugpatch-3.zip
This makes the part where those logs crash at have more frequent milestones (therefore, I can hopefully pinpoint more accurately where the problem is). Also Self Heal usage is now logged since it may play a part in this.

Dark-Slayer found the bug - turns out that if you die while holding self-heal with no ammo, the self heal ends up into DeselectNoAmmo state - where an infinite zero-tic loop is present.
