Build 1420 released!

Post Build 1420 released!

After three months, a new release takes place! Notable changes include:
  • A fully new hud with a battle console! Instead of huge hudmessages on the screen, all such information is now subtly displayed on the bottom.
  • A new map, AOW18: Sand Canyon by Nightfall
  • The Timecop class has been removed
  • Advanced harvester now has regular harvester armour, making it more balanced out
  • New chem sprayer sprites by Wartorn
  • The static file has been merged back to the main PK3 file. In contrast, the main PK3 now has low quality music files so as to reduce package filesize. Though, a package variant with the old high quality soundtrack is available as well.

Also many new effects have been coded in and the ACS code engine has been upgraded with new features and bug fixes alike.

64 kbit = old high quality music? Do you mean that serious?

I'm going to replace them again with FLAC Files :D

However 64 kbit is extreme low quality.


And now I'll look into the changelog :D :)

Then you might want to hear this. <- Updated, a good choice would be to redownload it.. AGAIN, sorry.

Just the stuff I spent 2.7 hours on. It's in silly 46 Kbps, so it must sound bad. Because it's extremely-'extreme' high low quality.
Well, just try and listen.
It sounds much better than the originals, at least to my (good?) ears. Most of the mono tracks were made stereo, except d_aow11.ogg Because I hate that one.
I cheated when haxing d_aow09.ogg though, it's the original track from Newgrounds. Instead of the (rather) lossy .ogg like the others. ;)

..Sorry for rushing some of the tracks like razor-ub.ogg (read below) D:


Oh, and for everyone that already downloaded it. You might want to extract the content and recompress it as .zip - then rename the extension to .pk3
Or just redownload it again. As I hardly had time to upload it, not to mention test it. D:

So yeah, LZMA betrays me when it comes to music. Skulltag won't see the music files.

P.S: d_dm2ttl.ogg Is now uncomfortable to listen to as a bonus! (And a bit creepy)

Edit: Damn, I'll remove the silence at the end of some of the tracks when I'm back home.

I like the new HUD, it's a good concept, but uh...

1. Why did you use brick for red? It kinda looks funny.
2. The Intel section of the screen breaks a lot. Often, messages appear in the upper left corner of the screen.

EDIT: Oh yeah, nice stealth knife. Who did that one?

I can just press STRG and mousewheel up to scale up. But its annoying. And everyone does read it with this too. Either you want to write something or you dont want or not? :|

We determined that it was too buggy in our testing sessions and so did not include it in the release.
