Post AOW2 maintenance plans
Turns out that r1601 was not only a fiasco with the server crasher (whose cause was luckily found out) - but the balance changes are way too rash. Therefore, the plan is to roll back to r1491 and apply the features gradually while releasing in between.

Therefore, the next release is not based on r1601 but rather on the older r1491 that servers host today. I'm however backporting the necessary fixes and upgrades from r1601 (such as the bandwidth optimizations, the new maps, new effects and the like). However, mech and plasma cannon nerf will not be present.

Next release should feature the two new maps (Mercury and Valley), the new utility gun with menu, the bandwidth optimizations and the shotgun buff. Balance will be deeply considered as changes are gradually applied to make this game last until its successor finally arrives. It should not take very long for me to apply these changes.

Also, our public IRC channel, #omega, is catching some activity. It is more or less our chatroom where you can talk to other AOW players and developers. Hit us up there! See this for information on how to get online.

Don't worry, this is not dead yet!

I have a little question:

What is about the tesla coils? Is there a chance we get them?

This would be another thing against mechs too ;) (with this would for example also the obelisk be safer from close attack by mech/s.

If you like to nerf the mechs, I highly prefer this methods over nerfing the mechs itself.

I'll post my next ideas (like the Massdriver Turrets and such I already mentioned ingame) but a lot more I'll post you later.
I've read that you've closed the feature suggestions. But I think it cant hurt if I post my ideas nevertheless. :)

inb4gattlingnerf

Either way, I'll be in the Omega channel from time to time to discuss balance changes, especially with maps.

The Gattling is ok how it is.

What you want? Same damage like machinegun?

You want less dominance of mechs, but you want nerfed anti mech things too? (Plasma Cannon, Gattling)

I dont understand what you want then??

Gunman with PC is actually a good combo to get heavy damage to mechs. in 1601 it costs 2500. So that combo is hardened too.
Now we have only MD and Gattling. And now you come with a Gattling nerf.

Come on give me a logic behind this pls.

On the one hand you people want less dominant mechs but on the other hand you want nerfed things which are good against mechs. LOL.

I am almost finished with them, but at the moment, the models i have been sent for them only use colour maps and not textures.

This has already been talked about in #omega.
ATM we are thinking of having them replace the LRM turrets that are just alot more than roflmao.

And what I said also ingame to nightfall:

These rockets need much more power. atm they're so unrealistic that you even cant assume theyre very small rockets.

I recommend much more power and slower rate of fire

-> advantages:

- rocket spam by mechs/turrets is automatically decreased by far
- improved realism.
- they're actually strong against mechs then (with the weak ones you can hide again fast enough - with powerful rockets not so easy)

but how said. I'll post more later.

Obviously you didn't understand that it was a joke based on the fact that everyone whines that the gattling is OP.

The only thing i suggest is RELOAD. Gattling would be nerfed, like every weapon in this game.

Though I don't really know what are your plans about anti-mech and LRM turrets, so I'll just leave this here:
What do you think about this idea - Make the anti-mech turrets fire mini massdriver shots instead of rifle shots. Precision turrets fire rifle shots, even at infarnity.
