Anyway, Stealth Knives should get to backstab people who are caught off guard, or to take care of your sniper next door, thus taking care of them without having to counter with another sniper and risking pissing away 750 to just get killed by a more skilled player, or waste money on mechs to just get rofl'd by the Gauss gun (Or Lrm/nuke spam from Cats, Titan's and juggs).

I say that it should only make you fully revealed before attacking.

Also personally, I think that stealth should recloak faster when hurt. Maybe one full second or so before you're fully invisible again.

..Anywho, maybe what Medic said, I mean, you can't re-cloak fast enough before the enemy mows you down.

and back on-topic... Backstabbing should reveal your postion when you attack, because as soon as their ally (implying they have a buddy sniper/support) dies (and revealing you even more as their death sounds are played) their bound to take you down anyway, but worth the 600 to get rid of the 750 snipefag you had then. ;)

I don't know though, the stealth ninja class is already pretty nasty if you use it right. Sometimes I just follow or camp around incoming enemies until they encounter another one of my teammates, then spring out on them with the laser rifle creating a nice WTF moment and a quick death. Even using it for this kind of combat can turn out favorable most of the time, provided you can aim with that laser rifle and you aren't fighting against someone godly.

I don't like doing this with a pack full of C4, or ffs a beacon, but when I survive during or long stalemates I just throw C4 on any old defense or building and then go back for a quick refill. These encounters usually take place during that trip back, every now and then I get frisky with it though.

I do like that idea, but IMHO I don't think the stealth class should automatically get this backstab ability, nor do I think it should be cheap enough to get over and over again with no consideration. Perhaps even a cooldown timer would be in order for that particular player. (like the plasma BFG)

Solution: make knife do loldamage from all angles except the back, where it's usually a one hit kill of all/most of the slash's "attacks" manage to connect.

It is a knife after all, but then you'll be seeing Stealth spam once they know it's instant kill/near instant kill and just use that instead. :/

As i see it, this may require another actor spawned to the back of the player constantly that checks for the damagetype for the knife, then deal damage.
IMO being able to almost kill someone with a successful knife swish is enough.

An ACS check enough for this - just test that your angle is the same as your target's. If both you and your victim are looking in the same direction you must be at his back, rite? Or at least with a threshold because having exactly the same angles is going to require quite a ton lot of luck. :P

I don't think implementation would be the problem.
