Submitting maps

So you want to submit a map to our project? Great! However, there's now a few rules in doing so:

1) First you must give our team permission to modify the map as we see fit. If you do not wish our team to modify the map, you may be able to negotiate this with one of us, however, it will have to start out very high quality in the first place before we would be willing to discuss that. Even in this instance, though, most buildings will receive a revamp - your map will still be modified when this part of the project comes to fruition. However, you do not have to use the templated buildings! Anything with the correct things w/ thing ID's, tags, etc, will be accepted, as long as it is a structure that is recognizable enough for its purpose. (See: AOW07)

2) Please use the buildings in the new AOW12 as a base for your maps (if you are using custom buildings, that will be fine, you do not need the new ones).

3) Please take the effort to eliminate errors from your map. It is crucial that you test your map in both Software and OpenGL mode! Our version of this mod caters to both users, and errors (especially HOM) can happen in both renderers that do not appear in the other! If your map has errors, we will have to fix it. (See: #1)

4) The starting room templates must also be up to date, including the research center template that has the two new turret researches.

5) No player one spots. The map tests fine without them - use strictly the team spots that exist in the start rooms. Please search your map and remove the player one spots (Thing ID #1) before submitting your map. They are annoying, and they make very odd things happen when testing your map.

6) When testing your map, please make sure the utility guy can build a mini-refinery on the Tiberium. If they can't, tag your Tiberium field with sector tag 18.

The reason for this post is because we ARE focusing on eliminating bugs and improving the quality of this mod. However, the maps that we are seeing lately are counter-productive to this goal. The less we have to do to fix your map, the higher chance, and quicker, it will be accepted.

I opened the menu so you could see it better, but there is a "voidy" area in the Red (maybe Blue as well) War Factory.

Where can I get the template map for the buildings? I can't open AOW2_omega maps in map editor.

Some certain person on the team decided it was a good idea to remove AOW99 from the distribution. I argued with it, but it was decided to remove it anyway and I just didn't care enough to argue with it further, so it was done.

I could use regular map as template but DB can't open pk3 files. I opened aow pk3 and exported map wad but DB still can't open it... How can I open them?

What does it say? Does it give an error? Explain.

Also make sure you use the right Game Configuration: UDMF Format.

I found problem! Aow is using udmf format in new versions right? I tought that it is using hexen format like in older versions. :lol:

Yes, all AOW maps since about rev ~500 or so use UDMF.
