Post Medics with offensive weapons
Is this an improvement to an already-existing feature, or a new feature entirely?
Improvement
If an improvement, what original feature is it improving upon?
Medic class
How would this work?
It would limit the Medic to predefined weapons, such as a pistol and/or an SMG.
Can you give an example in how useful this feature would be?
According to the Geneva conventions, shooting the medic is a war crime, and medics going on the offensive voids them of thier protection guarenteed by the Geneva conventions.

For many years, most medics have carried at least a side arm like the handgun and knife (and now, frequently a rifle, carbine or submachine gun), to be used as a defensive weapon. Medical personnel may be armed, but may only use their weapons to protect themselves or the wounded and sick in their care. If they use their arms offensively (i.e. attacking or assaulting), or carry arms that qualify as offensive (such as a sniper rifle, machine gun or grenade launcher), they then sacrifice their protection under the Geneva Conventions ... According to the Geneva Convention, knowingly firing at a medic wearing clear insignia is a war crime.
:ugeek:

To offset this, they might be given lots of armor and/or health.
I know, I know, it's a video game, not real life... but it sucks when a medic suddenly pulls out a sniper and no-scopes you.

Not sure if want. If this is he case, buff the medic gun so it can actually keep small groups in good health instead of barely keeping one guy alive under fire.

Something I was thinkin of was to have it heal faster the longer they have not taken damage, though idk how this will be implemented.

Nope, cause then people will be bitching, flamewars, and complaining about balance/unable to get their roflgattlinggun, lolgrenadelauncher, and don't forget the LMFAOplasmacannon.

Harvesters deal reduced damage with all weapons. Maybe do the same for medics.

...Do they? I had no idea. Make Medics do -20% damage and be sure to let players know that when they spawn as one. I think right now it goes "You are a harvester! Bring crystals to the refinery for cash!" but add a note for the reduced damage for them and medics.

It could be something like giving the medic a permanent (possibly weakened) reflection rune, like a "punishment" for shooting the medic. Or maybe a range limit.

K but doesn't that mean that the medic can fire back and yet anyone who retaliates takes damage/dies? Lolwut

Also, how is a sniper or anyone supposed to know if a person is a Medic class or not, since the only way to tell is if he has the Medic Gun out. If he chooses Medic and then switches to shotgun and gets sniped, that sniper is gonna end up getting mysteriously hurt/killed and prolly calling "hax".

Yeah I wasn't thinking too much when I posted that. It could probably just be a range limit on the guns that it carries. Plus the with whole self-healing thing, limiting the weapons that they could carry would (kinda) help solve that problem.

I think the harvesters' solution is the most straightforward.
