 Tricking the obby
If no-one has realized by now, once the obby has you in it's sight, it continues to rain plasma over you till you're ded. This can be used to trick it into firing at you behind a wall corner, while the charged shot hits said wall and not you. Obby will keep doing this until you're out of it's sight or you get killed then it waits for another enemy to attack. Useful for any rushes as it will not and I say it WILL NOT target your allies if it keeps firing on you as long as you stay in sight.

 Re: Tricking the obby
I thought this was a valid strategy? I'll one-up this with another: a solid decoration will also block obby shots - such as the big brown trees in 14's bases

 Re: Tricking the obby
I thought this was common knowledge actually, lol
Usually doesn't work as people figure out that the obelisk is hitting the same spot over and over. Usually ends up in someone chasing the guy out of his spot letting the Obelisk hit the real attackers.

 Re: Tricking the obby
Yeah, it can work, but it's also pretty easily countered by random guy in mid noticing obelisk going off and shooting/chasing away the Obby distractor (sometimes even without knowing what he was doing, just shooting for a free kill on a still target)
bonus points if it's a stealth

If it kills you, staying dead seems to make it keep charging up again.

 Re: Tricking the obby
Could be mean (and helpful to the other team) to have the obby search for a new target each shot. This will mean that it may attack the closest target that comes to it.

The LITE5 pillar in red base in AOW09: Infected is excellent for blocking shots. Just pitching in some more
