All Out War 2
Build r2050 released!!
30 July 2011, 02:29
http://aow2.drdteam.org/page.php?page=download

After three months of hard work and perhaps the biggest testing phase in AOW history, build r2050 sees the light of day. MOST notable features include:
  • Several major balance updates within weapons, including gatling gun, grenade launcher and handgun. The FOV is now disabled, with the sniper rifle and laser chaingun having scopes instead.
  • Weapons now feature pickup sprites! They will no longer appear as dull backpacks anymore.
  • Several weapons have new sprites as well as balance updates.
  • A new color palette, with graphics updated to match said palette. Has more azure blues and saturated greens, plus more violet purples.
  • Experience system has been `nerfed`. Commando rank only gives 150HP, for instance.
  • Two new maps: AOW17: Defunct Commission by dj-jo and AOW18: Red Zone by martini1179 to replace Shattered Remains and Sand Canyon.
  • Several new crates added: Open Deck, a powerful crate that lets you choose an arbitrary effect, Berserk, which turns you into a red-seeing punching maniac, and Moon Physics, a rare crate which has some.. floating effects on the very map itself.
  • Turrets revamped - the LRM turret is now an anti-mech Artillery turret and gun and klaxon turrets are more useful. Proxy mines now award frags and disarm cleanly, and many utility items have proper sprites as well.
  • Many, many, changes to help this become a better mod in general.

I'd like to extend my thanks to Thetis, who helped fix several diabolical bugs within the code and Called who supplied with lots of bug and exploit reports.

Enjoy!

Build r1646 released
3 February 2011, 22:47
http://aow2.drdteam.org/page.php?page=download

Since r1601 turned out to be a failure, this build is essentially a reboot of it.

Notable changes - since r1491 - include:
  • Three new maps:
    • AOW05: Mercury by Nightfall to replace Volcanicity
    • AOW19: Valley by dj-jo (with rework by Minigunner)
    • AOW20: Renegade 2030 - this is the original AOW06: Renegade with a revamp by Hjalg.
  • Utility gun has been revamped - new sprites and an item navigation menu!
  • The Stealth Sniper has been removed in favor of the Kamikaze AKA the Terrorist.
  • Lots of bandwidth optimizations - several effects are now processed clientside.
  • Mechs and Plasma Cannon now have a cooldown of 3 minutes (2 minutes for light mechs). These cooldowns start upon death instead of purchase. The huge ass mech nerf is not present.
  • Juggernaut no longer has Heavy Gauss - however, it has been given the ability to move while firing in return.

has fun peoples

AOW2 maintenance plans
24 January 2011, 01:02
Turns out that r1601 was not only a fiasco with the server crasher (whose cause was luckily found out) - but the balance changes are way too rash. Therefore, the plan is to roll back to r1491 and apply the features gradually while releasing in between.

Therefore, the next release is not based on r1601 but rather on the older r1491 that servers host today. I'm however backporting the necessary fixes and upgrades from r1601 (such as the bandwidth optimizations, the new maps, new effects and the like). However, mech and plasma cannon nerf will not be present.

Next release should feature the two new maps (Mercury and Valley), the new utility gun with menu, the bandwidth optimizations and the shotgun buff. Balance will be deeply considered as changes are gradually applied to make this game last until its successor finally arrives. It should not take very long for me to apply these changes.

Also, our public IRC channel, #omega, is catching some activity. It is more or less our chatroom where you can talk to other AOW players and developers. Hit us up there! See this for information on how to get online.

Don't worry, this is not dead yet!

A turn to the right - AOW2 Omega fr1601 released
16 January 2011, 03:08
It has been decided to mostly switch focus from AOW2. To ensure everything would be ready for a final release, lots of time and effort has been put to make this look and play as well as we could. Therefore, we present AOW2 Omega fr1601.

http://aow2.drdteam.org/page.php?page=download

Notable features include:
  • Two new maps, AOW05: Mercury by Nightfall to replace Volcanicity and AOW19: Valley by dj-jo (with rework by Minigunner).
  • Utility gun has been revamped - new sprites and a menu for navigation instead of the old system!
  • Time Cop returns.. but is now way more expensive than before!
  • The Stealth Sniper has been replaced by the Kamikaze AKA the Terrorist.
  • Lots of bandwidth optimizations - several effects are now processed clientside.
  • Mechs and Plasma Cannon have been rebalanced.

So... this is it? It's over? It's not over - in fact, it's only starting.

Also, AOW2 will see maintenance releases as code is being upgraded and maps are being reworked for the moment.

Build 1420 released!
12 October 2010, 06:46
http://aow2.drdteam.org/page.php?page=download

After three months, a new release takes place! Notable changes include:
  • A fully new hud with a battle console! Instead of huge hudmessages on the screen, all such information is now subtly displayed on the bottom.
  • A new map, AOW18: Sand Canyon by Nightfall
  • The Timecop class has been removed
  • Advanced harvester now has regular harvester armour, making it more balanced out
  • New chem sprayer sprites by Wartorn
  • The static file has been merged back to the main PK3 file. In contrast, the main PK3 now has low quality music files so as to reduce package filesize. Though, a package variant with the old high quality soundtrack is available as well.

Also many new effects have been coded in and the ACS code engine has been upgraded with new features and bug fixes alike.
